I just upgraded to 5.2.21 and ran into a problem trying to change the connection preferences.  In order to change anything, I need to authenticate and always get an “Authentication failed, please try again” error.  Interestingly, it takes about 5 seconds before finally failing.  It’s as if something is timing out.

The computer is a “Late 2013” MacBook Pro running El Capitan 10.11.6.  It’s worth noting that I have a multifactor authentication package installed.  That is, when I log in to MacOS, I don’t use a regular password; I insert a USB dongle and then type in a PIN# (that’s unique to the dongle).   I suspect the authentication errors may be related to this.

Has anyone at NoMachine tested NX with a Mac in this configuration?  Also, does NX write any log files anywhere that would have more details and maybe confirm my suspicion?

    Thanks very much,

BTW: For now, I’ve been able to work around the authentication problem by launching nxplayer from the command line using sudo.  From there, I can go into the settings page and make the changes without having to authenticate.  I’d still like to see this issue resolved properly, though.

We will look closely at this problem. Does the issue show up just after NoMachine upgrade? What kind of multi-factor authentication are you using exactly? Can you send logs with debug from server side to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com? Instructions about debug and collecting logs you can find there: https://www.nomachine.com/DT07M00098.
