I’m currently using the latest free version of NoMachine for Windows 8 to connect to a few Ubuntu 16.04 (also running the latest version) remote servers. All of them work without any problems except for one server. It no longer displays the desktop. When I connect all I see is a black screen with a pop-up box saying, “A configuration error has been encountered. Please contact your administrator.” I click the OK button and it terminates the session.
I’ve tried completely removing NoMachine from the Linux server, deleting the nodes.db.backup file and reinstalling. I also then deleted every file I could find related to NoMachine and reinstalling. I still get the same error message.
I thought it might be an issue with XFCE, so I reinstalled that too, but that didn’t work. Lastly, I removed NoMachine from my windows system and reinstalled. Still no luck. I’m not exactly sure what to do at this point as I’ve run out of ideas.
Has anybody else encountered this issue before and know how to fix it?
