Hi All
Really sorry to resurrect this but I am having the same problem as reported a couple of years ago with regards to the keyboard mappings being completely wrong. As with the earlier post, my connection to the remote machine is stable and fast, the mouse/menu/paste functions are all working very well however if I type qwerty I actually get 789-=[.
I went through the instructions regarding getting output and I attach the results here.
Any guidance very much appreciated

Can you indicate the forum topic so we can understand your set-up (I assume you have the same set-up, right?)
October 8, 2018 at 11:53 #19857BobStonesParticipantHi BritGirl
I’ve added the attachments again, I did so on the first post but got “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons” on both files. Hopefully this time they will get through. If not I’ll sip them and submit.
I’m running both server and client on Linux – Ubuntu 18.04

October 8, 2018 at 16:15 #19876BobStonesParticipantEr, how do I send them ‘directly’?

Via email 🙂

October 9, 2018 at 16:20 #19903graywolfParticipantThe keyboard layout is unusual.
Please, could you post additional info?
Run in the affected session:
xkbcomp $DISPLAY - > xkbcomp.out
xprop -root | grep XKB > xprop.out
Also NoMachine server log could be useful (create an archive of folder /usr/NX/var/log).
October 10, 2018 at 09:11 #19909BobStonesParticipantI get:
xkbcomp $DISPLAY – > xkbcomp.out
Error: XKB extension not present on :3.0
Exiting
And xprop.out is a 0 length file.
nxserver.log by email
October 10, 2018 at 15:31 #19916graywolfParticipantPlease, reproduce with SessionLogClean 0 (node.cfg) so session folders in /usr/NX/var/log/node are not removed. Could you then send the whole folder /usr/NX/var/log ?
October 11, 2018 at 13:56 #19939BobStonesParticipantHi All,
Its getting worse. I made the mistake of restarting the nx server and now I cannot bring up a desktop in the client.
I have the following processes running:
robert@TRG_RefServer:~/.vnc$ ps -ef |grep NX
robert 18558 17430 0 13:32 pts/1 00:00:00 grep –color=auto NX
nx 24140 1 0 08:26 ? 00:00:45 /usr/NX/bin/nxserver.bin –daemon
root 24239 24140 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxexec –node –user david –priority realtime –mode 0 –pid 12
nx 24240 24140 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxd
david 24273 24239 0 08:26 ? 00:00:01 /usr/NX/bin/nxnode.bin
root 24312 24140 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxexec –node –user robert –priority realtime –mode 0 –pid 25

robert 24319 24312 0 08:26 ? 00:00:01 /usr/NX/bin/nxnode.bin
robert 24320 24313 0 08:26 ? 00:00:01 /usr/NX/bin/nxnode.bin
root 24326 24140 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxexec –node –user robert –priority realtime –mode 0 –pid 33
gdm 24336 24315 0 08:26 ? 00:00:01 /usr/NX/bin/nxnode.bin
robert 24341 24326 0 08:26 ? 00:00:01 /usr/NX/bin/nxnode.bin
david 24370 24273 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxclient.bin –monitor –pid 3494
robert 24430 24320 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxclient.bin –monitor –pid 18337
robert 24462 24319 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxclient.bin –monitor –pid 2186
robert 24527 24341 0 08:26 ? 00:00:00 /usr/NX/bin/nxclient.bin –monitor –pid 18116
When attempting to reconnect the client I get past the ‘Recent Connections’ point and can establish a connection to the server however I then get a single icon with the text ‘Physical display gdm, Ubuntu X server on :1024 (icon) 0
any suggestions as to where I am now going wrong, again gratefully accepted
[Sigh]
October 12, 2018 at 09:22 #19958graywolfParticipant“Physical display gdm, Ubuntu X server on :1024” seems correct. Did you try to double-click that icon?
October 12, 2018 at 11:13 #19956BobStonesParticipantIncidentally, when I do double click on the above icon I get a “waiting wheel” on the display that just turns and turns . . .
