Hi NoMachine.
We have an older NoMachine server, where users can connect and make multiple desktop sessions, like a user have an active desktop session, and can create a new desktop session.
We have now bought and installed a new and updated NoMachine Terminal Server version 6.8.1 on an Xubuntu and it’s working perfect, besides users can’t create multible desktop sessions now, and they get the error ‘The session negotiation failed’.
I have looked on the NoMachine preferences and in NoMachine config files, but i can’t get it to work like on the old NoMachine server.
Are there any one that know howto get this to work?
Thank you.

You don’t mention the desktop environment. You mention you have an older version (note that forums handles the latest version only), what’s not clear is whether you have installed version 6 on top of that. If I were you, given that you have a subscription, I would open a ticket in your customer area, also to avoid sensitive data being published here.

The server is running xfce desktop, and it’s a fresh install.
But if i can get the help here, it still be good, else i will open a ticket in the customer portal, as you suggested.
ls /usr/share/xsessions
xfce.desktop xubuntu.desktop
Thank you.

October 4, 2019 at 14:34 #23872BritgirlKeymasterDuring installation NoMachine detects the default desktop environment set on the system and configures the node accordingly. If you don’t want to run the default one, you change it. It could be that this is what causing the problems?
Firstly check that in the node.cfg that you have:
DefaultDesktopCommand "/usr/bin/startxfce4"
written there. More info is in our KB here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR04K00667October 7, 2019 at 08:38 #23880ThomasParticipantHi Britgirl.
I wrote to NoMachine support, and they wanted some logs, meanwhile i found the same article you have linked to,
and they also wanted me to make custom desktop sessions with ‘startxfce4′ so that gave the hint, and now it’s working.
But also pointed out in the support ticket, it’s stange it’s now working withe the default “DefaultDesktopCommand “/etc/X11/Xsession default”” like on our old Terminal server.
Thank you for the help.
