Desktop sharing between remote users

We have licensed NoMachine running on a Linux workstation. The workstation is behind a firewall with no internet connectivity.

We would like to do direct peer-to-peer remote desktop sharing, ideally to a virtual desktop.

We have tried the following:

1) We have tried the instructions shown in URL https://www.nomachine.com/AR07P00993, but they did not work, specifically we are unable to locate the All Desktops view mode referenced in Step 2.

2) We tried the instructions and changes in the “For administrators” section, in server.cfg.

We enabled VirtualDesktopSharing, VirtualDesktopMode, VirtualDesktopAuthorization.

After doing so and restarting the nxserver, and then having two different users/accounts connect to the same workstation, each user/account is able to create their own, independent virtual desktop simultaneously, but we have found no option to all for two different users/accounts to connect to the same virtual desktop simultaneously.

Alternatively, instead of sharing the same virtual desktop, we could also attempt to have a user/account logged in on the physical desktop and then have two users/accounts connect remotely, but we also have not found the correct settings in order to do so on the licensed NoMachine.

Please take a look at the attached screenshot. You need to enable the selected option on window with sessions to see other users’ sessions. To define a pool user who can connect without explicit permissions, keep the authorization request on (VirtualDesktopAuthorization 1) and give to the user ‘trusted’ permissions:

sudo /etc/NX/nxserver --useradd USERNAME --trusted virtual

Hello,

We attempted what you suggested following the steps and documentation.

Note that we have NoMachine Small Business Server, not Enterprise.

Upon making the changes and restarting the nxserver, we still did not get the option to see any other desktop other than the current user logging in.

Could there be another setting in the file, or something relating to security that were restrict this capability even with the proper configuration for the Virtual Desktop Settings?

We also tried separately the Physical Desktop Settings (not shown here what we tried to that, but we enabled the appropriate settings for Physical).

We tested that by having a user physically log in, and then having a virtual user connect to the same desktop, but it did not give the option for the virtual user to see the physical desktop despite applying the proper settings in the configuration file (server.cfg).

We are using the licensed version.

In your picture, hit “back” and you will have the possibility to change My desktops to All desktops.

When a user authenticates and he doesn’t have any owned desktop sessions, the next step is to prompt the user to start one. Hitting “back” will allow to visualize All desktops label.
