Keyboard not working in applications

Hi,

I have the following setup.

Raspberry Pi 4 8 GB / Ubuntu 21.04 / NoMachine 7.6.1 Linux

PC / Windows 10 / NoMachine 7.6.1 Windows

I use the PC to remote into the Pi and it connects and I can use the mouse but the keyboard only works for some things.

For example, if I press the “show applications” button in the lower-left corner then I can type into the search bar that appears above the applications. Or if I try to open a folder that needs admin permission then I can type into the box that prompts me for my admin password. But I can’t type anything inside any application or a terminal, I tried the on-screen keyboard but it also is restricted to the same things (only shows up when I can use it, in other words it does not even show up for applications or terminal).

Any help is appreciated.

Hi javve,

This problem does not seem to be caused by NoMachine. Maybe some application running in the background steals the focus from the terminal window.

Did you have the chance to try gnome directly on raspberry pi? If so, did it shows the same problem?
