Session apps gone after relogin

I have a Linux Mint 20+ running NoMachine and I remotely connect to this computer using NoMachine. After login and opening some applications it seems that NoMachine closes all my running applications if I do a logout. In fact, I always login into a “fresh” desktop but I need to login into my previous session with all the apps I had there running. This was possible but I do not understand why this is not possible anymore.

I am running NoMachine Version 8.9.1

The workaround (follow the link to see the complete description) is open the UI  on the Mint machine -> Settings -> Server -> Security -> section ‘Desktop Notifications’ and uncheck option ‘Show that the desktop is viewed when somebody connects’.
