I have a LAN network consisting of a Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon laptop and a steam deck (Steam OS). I have no router, simply an Ethernet cable. Can’t remember how I did it, but the steam deck can see the laptop’s screen, but not vice versa. I  need it to be the other way around, but the steam deck doesn’t appear by default, and when I force a connection with the IP then it refuses connection, citing device refused connection on port 4000. However, the steam deck has no firewall, and should not be able to do this. I have also tried giving the steam deck a firewall and allowing the port which has also not worked. Am I doing something wrong within nomachine?

    – Mint remote steam deck physical works

    – Mint physical steam deck remote does not – this is what i need

Have you tried running sudo nxserver --restart after switching to desktop mode on the problematic Steam host?

Are the devices able to ping each other?
