Running the latest version of the NoMachine free edition on an up to date Windows 11 PC, I can no longer launch the NoMachine client window after the machine has entered sleep mode, then been awakened.

The icon is still present in the system tray, but clicking on it (left or rich click) no longer displays a menu. Attempting to launch the NoMachine client app directly by clicking on the .exe results in a busy spinner for a few moments, but no window is ever displayed.

If I give the machine a full reboot then NoMachine will be working properly again, until such time as I do another sleep. Since I regularly sleep this machine, it’s not really a practical solution for me to reboot every time I need to connect to a remote machine.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening? Let me know if you need me to provide any more info, or upload any sort of log. Thanks in advance.

We’re not aware of similar issues of not being able to open the app after waking the machine from sleep mode. Are you able to send us the .nx folder in the user’s home of the affected system? The steps are:

    1) Reproduce the problem

    2) Compress and send us the .nx folder from the user’s home. On Windows the .nx folder is hidden, so to find it write the following in the address bar or the file browser: %USERPROFILE%\.nx

    3) Check the list of processes in the task manager and check how many Player processes are running, even if the UI is not visible. If there are multiple processes, can you take a screenshot and send us it together with the logs?

Send everything to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com using the title of this topic as the subject of your email. Thanks!

Hi – thanks for the reply. Oddly I’ve been unable to reproduce the issue in the past couple of days, even though it seemed to be occurring every time before!

I will keep an eye on it and provide these details if the problem reoccurs.
