I have two Macs, one of which acts as NoMachine client from which connections to the other Mac (the server) are initiated. NoMachine 9.2.18 on both systems. MacOS 12.7 on the server, MacOS 10.12 on the client (where I am sitting). The client has a USB cam, an external USB microphone and an external USB sound system. nxserver is running on both systems although the one on the client is not used actively.
Basic operation is fine. I want to explore feasibility of doing videoconferencing (Zoom, Teams) on the server using mic and cam and sound output on the client. I got the Microphone recognized by the server Mac at some point (as evidenced by the Zoom app running there), but no luck with the cam or with the sound output. The MacOS control panel on the server indicates its sound is directed towards the NoMachine Audio Adapter, but nothing comes out on the client.
The NoMachine settings panel for the nxserver has a page where one can connect USB devices. I did that and got the mic and the cam and the sound output to get a green dot indicating they are connected, but no joy on the client. I checked the firewall settings and I think I got those right (and I am not sure that matters anyway).
Anyone have any ideas what else to try? Or am I trying the impossible? If anyone has experience running videoconferencing across a NoMachine link that would be helpful as well as I am not sure it works in a practical sense. For the user interface, NoMachine works quite well on my setup with not much lag. All this is local, not across a WAN.
Many thanks in advance,
Uli
