I installed NoMachine on my laptop (ubuntu 14.04LTS) and my server (debian 8.1) and was fully satified how good it works. After removing the physical hdmi connection on my remote server i was not able the get an visual remote desktop anymore. Even after a reboot there is no change. I can not understand why i need a physical cable to my monitor the get an remote desktop on my laptop . Is there maybe a setting i just missed? Does anybody have an idea what the problem is? Do you have NoMachine version 5 installed? Connecting to headless machine should work out of the box thanks to this implementation:

If you have this problem with version 5, please gather server side logs as exaplained in https://www.nomachine.com/DT07M00098 and send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.
