I’ve just updated from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 (in a KVM VM)

I have re-installed NoMachine 8.11.3 and checked for updates. (Free version)

I have checked for Playstore updates on Android client.

When I connect when desktop is Wayland from Android client, I have to leave about a 2-3 second pause before each key press otherwise keys are missed.

When I connect when desktop is X11 from Android client, soon as I press a key, it is repeated forever in Ubuntu session.

I have tested on 2 Android devices with both Samsung and Google keyboards and I get same results.

The keyboard works normally if using a Ubuntu desktop as client.

    Any ideas ?

Hi. The problem started when you updated from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04, or you tried that as an attempt to solve the issue? What are you device models and kernel versions?

Even though I had NoMachine installed while VM on Ubuntu on 20.04 I wasn’t using it and was still using [removed] on X11. When I upgraded to 22.04 I switched to Wayland and tested NoMachine because [removed] only supports X11. The Ubuntu 22.0.4.4  VM is on kernel 5.15.0-105-generic #Ubunu SMP Android devices are a Samsung A54 5G phone and a Samsung S6 Lite (2022) Tablet

    Thanks,

    Phil

Hi Phil. We’ve tested both Samsung models running on One UI 6.0 (Android 14) and could not find any issues.
Can you type normally in the app interface, for example to set the user name logging in?
When your keys are being shown slowly on the remote desktop, did you notice if also the desktop screen updates in the app are slow (you could run a video on the desktop while typing)? If you’ve physical access to the server, did you notice if the letter is slow to appear on screen also on the physical display (not only through the app)?
Is there something you can say about the virtual keyboard? Do you use a particular configuration? Do you have bluetooth or USB devices attached to the phone/tablet?
    Thanks.

Yes I can type normally into the app interface.

I tested a video playing and it does not lag when the keyboard does.

The keys don’t appear when viewing the client through virtmanager either

I tried updating the kernel to HWE (6.5.0-28) and same issues with both X and Wayland.

I ran up a fresh Ubuntu 22.04.4 VM and it has same issues with both X and Wayland.

I run stock google keyboard on Android. No USB or bluetooth connected.

Please see video that shows the issue.

    Thanks,

    Phil
