    Hi,

I purchased a Windows license for the AVC Pack in January to have h.264 encoding support when accessing my work computer from home using NoMachine Free on both computers. I tried it then and I couldn’t get it to work but now I’m trying it again and I’m asking for help. Both computers are now running Windows 10 Creators update. My home computer has an OEM Nvidia GT730 64bit card that’s supposed to be supported for H.264 decoding. My work computer has an Intel HD Graphics 530 which I know is not supported for H.264 encoding (That’s why I have the AVC pack). When I bought the AVC pack, NoMachine Free was a lower version, I don’t remember now what version exactly but I know it was in the 5.x series. I’ve installed the 5.3.10 version on my work computer and home computer, I followed the instructions given here https://www.nomachine.com/DT10M00105 On the work computer, I used 7zip to extract the license file then moved it to %ProgramData%\NoMachine\codec\etc I did not alter the license file in any way.

When I access my work computer from home it connects and gives me a white screen for several seconds then it shows the remote desktop. When I check to see what codec is being used it says VP8.

Does it matter that the version of NoMachine Free is 5.3.10 but the AVC Pack is not? Do I need to buy it again?

    Any help would be appreciated.

AVC software encoding should work out of the box. Are you using a higher resolution then 1920×1080 on the server side? If yes please try change value to “false” on “Switch to software decoding on Windows if resolution is bigger than 1920×1080” player configuration key. To do that edit file player.cfg which is in the %USERPROFILE%\.nx\config on client side machine.

If the resolution of the remote monitor is higher than 1920×1080 – H.264 hardware-accelerated decoding won’t be use on Windows clients by default (reference you can find there: https://www.nomachine.com/AR09L00811).

If this is not the case – please gather the logs during connection to the session. To do that zip .nx folder on the client machine and %PROGRAMDATA%\NoMachine\var\log\node on the server machine (submit to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com making sure to reference your topic.
