    Hello everyone,

I’m running NoMachine on a Ubuntu 24 server (NoMachine is latest free version) and connecting with the official iOS client on an iPad mini 7 (Retina, 1488 x 2266px). To save bandwidth but still get “Retina-sharp” text, I’ve set my remote desktop resolution to 1133 x 744 (exactly half of 2266 x 1488, so a 2x integer scale). Yet the text remains noticeably blurry. Xrandr shows that it renders in 1133 x 744. I can blame only iOS client’s scaling here.

Hi, on iOS we support retina natively. Is the text crisp when enabling the ‘Resize remote screen’ option, to have a 1:1 resolution between iPad and the Ubuntu desktop? On the server side do you happen to be using scaling in the system settings, “fractional scaling” on Ubuntu?

I should mention that it’s a headless server, so nxserver is using a dummy X11 monitor. I tried changing the scaling, but for some reason it doesn’t allow it. According to xrandr, the 1133×744 resolution is set correctly. When using a 1:1 resolution, everything renders sharply, but the interface is too small. I can apply scaling, but it’s inconsistent—some apps look fine, while others don’t. The best solution for me would be to simply halve the resolution. Oddly, although the desktop appears to render at that resolution, the image still looks blurry when it shouldn’t. I also notice shimmering when dragging windows around.
