I want to connect to monitor 1 by default on machine 1.
I want to connect to monitor 2 by default on machine 2.

Is there a way to configure the client to connect to a specific monitor by default? Or do I literally need to connect to the host and change the monitor every time I want to connect to it?

You can connect to a machine with multi-monitors attached, where you have installed NoMachine, and switch between those monitors from the client using the easy-to-use Switch Monitor button. When you connect, NoMachine automatically detects that multiple physical displays are available on the server side and the Switch Monitor button will be visible in the NoMachine session menu.

Thanks @Britgirl. But it sounds like there is no way for a connection to remember to use “monitor 2”. I literally need to login, then use the hot key to switch each time, is that correct?

The selected monitor is saved, but if for some reason there is a delay in the client receiving the list of monitors present on the server, it ignores the preference and selects the main monitor.

You can tell us what operating systems and versions are in use on the clients and servers, so we can investigate?

    Client: Windows 10 Pro (systeminfo version: 10.0.19044 N/A Build 19044 ) — NoMachine version — 8.4.2 free
    Server: Windows 11 Enterprise (systeminfo version: 10.0.22000 N/A Build 22000 ) — NoMachine version — 8.4.2 Enterprise desktop

Hmm after more testing, the different connections do connect to the correct monitor, I guess I was not testing properly before. Thanks for the tip!
