machines: Windows 10/7, OS X (different versions) both client and server.
I believe NX would solve a work from home problem for my company. The users work with video files and still images. We had to deploy work from home in a hurry this spring and [removed] was the quickest/easiest solution is set up. However, it has problems with reliability and latency when it comes to editing audio and video, especially on an OS X machine.
How does NX support multiple monitors? I discovered the client can switch between two different monitors or display a concatenation of the two screens on the remote machine. Does NX support mapping each remote monitor to local monitors at the same time?
I’ve been concerned about malware/ransomware and opening our network via VPN. Attackers have struck a variety of local businesses and while I can control machines in the office, I can’t control user machines. I am seriously tempted to deploy a bunch of rpi4 systems for the work-from-home crowd with preconfigured NX and VPNs, it may not fly non-technical users.
An alternative would be some form of application gateway that the user could connect to and have their NX connection relayed to the remote machine. One way of implementing this I that I can think of would be to use SSH tunneling and remote port forwarding. My main concern would be the proxy causing problems with video and the synchronization between and audio.
Solution does not need to be free, only reasonable in $$ and scale for a small (15ish) remote user population.
I look forward to your suggestions.

This capability is planned for the future.
Making it possible to treat multiple monitors connected on the server as separate windows on client side

We have packages available for RP 🙂 Please make sure you read the article here to see which models we have tested and with which distributions: https://www.nomachine.com/AR07N00896

Our gateway option, Cloud Server, is geared towards organizations with large numbers of users, so is probably overkill for what you need. We don’t currently have an option to cater for smaller groups or private users which want to centralize access for a small number of users.
If you’re looking for a remote desktop solution to get your users carry out business-related activities, you should look at Enterprise Desktop which is installed on the remote computers you want to access. Users can just install the free NoMachine version or the Enterprise Client package on their connecting devices. If you need a quote and pricing based on volume, please contact our sales team by submitting a Contact Request via the footer of our website.

The documentation link potentially solves a problem I’m having with audio. On OS X, I’m having trouble getting audio back to the client and none of the suggested fixes work (yet another reason why to buy licenses 🙂
I am assuming that if I buy licenses for the Enterprise Desktop that I can mix them between Win 10 and OS X?
November 20, 2020 at 16:15 #30479BritgirlKeymasterThere are two known issues with audio on Mac. You can also find a number of topics specifically related to audio on macOS in this forum.
Two trouble reports are these:
https://www.nomachine.com/TR05R09720
https://www.nomachine.com/TR06R09774There are workarounds so I advise you to try them.
In terms of what you get in the free version vs Enterprise Desktop (its pay-for equivalent) multi-media is available in both. What you don’t get in the free version is browser-based access and SSH support. You can compare them here: https://www.nomachine.com/remote-access-for-everyone
Purchasing subscriptions rather than use the free edition means you get technical assistance plus any hot fixes which are available but haven’t been released yet. I’m not sure what you mean by mixing OSes. A license for Windows cannot be used on a Mac host if this is what you mean. If you have two computers that you want to remote in to, and one is Mac and one is Window, you need two licenses.
