I am trying to get version NoMachine 5.1.44 free version working on Google Compute Engine. The client hangs with message “Connecting to …”. Version of ubuntu on client and server is 16.04, Gnome desktop is installed on the server (VNC/X11 forwarding works fine)

I’m getting the same error on Google Compute Engine (Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS, xfce (configured ‘DefaultDesktopCommand “/usr/bin/X11/startxfce4″‘ like described here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR07K00676)). I would be super thankful for a solution.

The problem with the connection to the server for Google Cloud is related to a bug in NoMachine. This is the same error in both cases on Ubuntu 16.04 with Gnome and Ubuntu 14.04 with Xface. A possible workaround is to set key EnableUPnP from “NX” to “none” in the server.cfg file.
