My Windows 11 system has two graphic cards both should support hardware decoding.

    1. Nvidia RTX4060 connect to main monitor via HDMI

    2. Intel UHD730 connect to secondary monitor via DP

    Both are working correctly.

However, when I using NoMachine player connected to a remote Linux host which supports hardware vpl encoding, at my client Windows it always tries to use Nvidia 4060 to do hardware decoding for NoMachine, even if i move the NoMachine windows to secondary monitor…. task manager show that hardware decoding always on RTX4060.

Is there anyway I can force NoMachine to use UHD730 to do decoding work?

and yes i had also did this but does not fix the issues:

Hi, did you mean to submit a screenshot?

Anyway, NoMachine doesn’t have an option to choose the GPU, it uses the GPU that is set by default in Windows.

Did you try to select a different GPU in Windows settings?

    On Windows 10 and 11:

    – click on the Windows menu and select ‘Settings’
    – go to System -> Display -> Graphics.
    – in Custom options for apps select Desktop app and click ‘Browse’
    – go to the directory where NoMachine is installed and move to ‘bin’ folder.
    – Type nxplayer.bin in the ‘File name’ field at the bottom of the panel to find it.
    – Click on Add to add nxplayer.bin to the list. (Window lists only .exe files, nxplayer.bin is not visible by default).
    – select nxplayer.bin and open Options
    – you can then select in Graphics preference the GPU you want to use for nxplayer.bin

Yes, I was trying to show a screenshot, and I was using nxplayer.exe in the Graphics setting.

However, thank you so much, I confirm add nxplayer.bin indeed solved the problem, now NoMachine is using UHD730 to decode!

    Thank you once again.
