    Running the version 6.0.66 installer on Windows 10 (build 16299), I get the error dialog after the program files are copied:

    Cannot open file: “C:\Program Files(x86)\NoMachine\etc\nodes.db”. The system cannot find the file specified.

    After this the installer hangs and must be killed with the Process Manager.

    I’ve turned off my Windows Defender and disabled my antivirus. Our IT has some Group Policy settings that disallow running executables out of %APPDATA%. This is a common anti-ransomware precaution.




    We weren’t able to reproduce this problem. Can you try installing again and when the issue appears zip server log folder (%ProgramData%\NoMachine\var\log) and send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com?


    We received the logs that you sent but they included on the nxdevice.log. We need to see “Setup Log” from the installation which should be in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\

    It’ll have a name similar to ‘Setup Log 2018-01-04 #001.txt’. Send us the newest file.
