Issue with press and hold keys

Hi. I’m running Ubuntu 22.04.1, Gnome and NoMachine free 8.3.1 on the server and the client.

The issue I’m having is if I’m pressing and holding a key, the key doesn’t hold constantly, the input is “flickering”.

If I use another remote desktop solution like gnome remote desktop, the issue isn’t there.

I’ve attached a screen recording where i press and hold a key to get a menu, where you can see how it flickers.

Any solution to this?

Hi, can you tell us what application it is your using (where does that menu come from?).

Hi. The application from the screengrab is Sidefx Houdini. But i also have the same issue in another program called Mari, from The Foundry. So it’s not specific to just one application.

What are the exact steps to reproduce this in Mari? Also, on the NoMachine Player side (where you are connecting from) can you try disabling auto-repeat?

I’m just running the program, pressing and holding the shortcut(i) to get the menu. I’m running Ubuntu 22.04.1 on the player side. Disabling auto-repeat solves the problem. So that’s a workaround.
