I’ve done a fresh NoMachine server  install from scratch with both Kubuntu and Ubuntu 24.04 on a System76 laptop (Lemur)

I connect to the machine from a Windows client.

At some point the host (the linux box) freezes. Only  a hard powercycle gets it going again.

I’ve run the same processes directly from the host to make sure it’s not something on the machine itself, but it seems that connecting via NoMachine locks up the host.

Any ideas? Any more info I need to provide?

Is the display server X11 or Wayland? On Kubuntu it’s x11 by default, maybe you installed Wayland and are you using that?

Logs would be useful from both sides. You can extract them using the instructions here: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT07S00243

Send them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com. Please use the title of this topic as the subject of your email. Thanks!

Sorry, forgot to ask you to execute this command in a terminal sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver --eglcapture no and reboot (or logout and then login). Does that change anything?

Thanks for replying, but I actually think it’s an issue with the machine. I tried several Linux OS’s, and even different remote access tools, but the machine freezes up with each combination, so I think the laptop is shot.
