I have installed the latest version of NoMachine (8.16.1) on my (physical) Linux machine running Ubuntu 24.04 (GNOME). When trying to connect from another machine to the Linux machine, I am able to login but then get the warning “No available desktops on this server”. This is confirmed by looking on the Linux machine at the NoMachine UI, where it says (in grey) “Desktop not shared”. I am unable to click on or change this option.

What I have tried so far:

    – updating the Ubuntu OS from 22 to 24

    – reinstalling NoMachine

    – restarting the servers

Unfortunately, the problem persists. I want to attach log and config files below but get the error “Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.” I can share them per mail upon request.

The logs you forwarded were not sufficient. Can you enable debug on the server-side, reproduce and extract them using the instructions here: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT07S00243. Send them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com. Please use the title of this topic as the subject of your email. Thanks!

I forgot to add that we also need the ps.log file, so run the following in a terminal.

    ps aux | grep X > ps.log

and attach that as well. Thank you!
