No mouse clicks or keyboard input headless Ubuntu 20.04

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.  When I boot with a monitor and a keyboard and mouse plugged in, I can remote control Ubuntu from Windows 10 with NoMachine.  If I unplug the mouse and keyboard, I can see the remote cursor move but mouse clicks and keystrokes have no effect.  I have also tried a cold boot with no keyboard or mouse, same results.  I just upgraded to NoMachine 6.10.12 from the previous version on both with Windows and the Ubuntu machines.

please gather server side logs as explained in https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00697. You can attach them here or send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com. Also show us the output of the ‘xinput’ command.
