Hello
I have a Linux Mint 20.3 client (bare-metal DELL Optiltex 780) connecting to a Linux Mint 21.2 server (bare-metal DELL Optiltex 755), both running 8.11.3 NoMachine. I get no audio from the server. Checking the status by opening the menu panel, the microphone and audio are marked with a red X, and any option to change settings is greyed out.
This problem also occurs when trying connect to a server on Linux Mint 20.3 on VPS under proxmox. This problem also occurs when trying connect in the opposite direction: from Linux Mint 21.2 (bare-metal DELL Optiltex 755) to Linux Mint 20.3 (bare-metal DELL Optiltex 780). The problem does NOT occur when trying connect to a VPS with Ubuntu 20.04
My server Linux Mint 21.2 config:
~# cat /etc/os-release
NAME=”Linux Mint”
VERSION=”21.2 (Victoria)~# uname -a
Linux pc1295szwaba-04 6.5.0-18-generic #18~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Feb 7 11:40:03 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/LinuxThank you for helping me solve the problem.

I checked the file “no-sound-forwarding.txt” that you sent and your configuration seems to be fine, all the variables and devices are set properly. Something blocks the audio transfer completely, despite proper configuration. I will try to reproduce your issue and investigate further. In the meantime, can you send me the logs from both sides? You can check it how to do it here: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT07S00243.

wget https://download.nomachine.com/download/8.10/Linux/nomachine_8.10.1_1_amd64.deb
sudo apt install ./nomachine_8.10.1_1_amd64.deb -yin both cases the config server is the same.
AudioInterface pipewire
Also I noticed that NoMachine 8.10 is creating 3 NoMachine soundcards but 8.11 only create 2 interfaces, this is superweird but the issue is only happening in 8.10
February 22, 2024 at 04:39 #47125taiziccfParticipantI can confirm that i need to 8.10 for the sound to work. 8.11 just simply not showing NoMachine Output despite i changed audiointerface to pipewire or pulseaudio.
Downgrading to 8.10 working correctly.
I am on Linuxmint 21.3 jammy, not using Wayland

If you still experience this issue, please show us your connection and options log files. You can find them in .nx/R-<session_id>/ on the client side.
Unfortunately we haven’t reproduced the issue yet, audio during a connection between two Mint machines (both with NoMachine 8.11) worked fine. Our testing team keeps trying to reproduce it. Your logs from the connection would help us a lot.

Kuba

March 29, 2024 at 18:50 #47588doaistParticipantConfirmed on current macOS client and Linux Mint 21.3 NoMachine. Server 8.10 required for sound to work.
April 1, 2024 at 00:45 #47598electrosaurParticipantCould someone tell me where to get 8.10? I’m getting no sound with a Mac client and an Ubuntu server with 8.11 free version. The speaker bit used to work earlier.
April 2, 2024 at 12:19 #47615BritgirlKeymasterElectrosaur, write to us using Contact Us in the footer, select General Enquiries, tell us what package type you need, and we’ll send you the link.
taiziccf/Electrosaur, we have a Trouble Report open which appears to be your issue:
Audio doesn’t work when PulseAudio and PipeWire are both installed and PulseAudio is enabled
https://www.nomachine.com/TR03V11111The next maintenance will include the fix.
July 16, 2024 at 16:27 #48825BritgirlKeymasterPlease update to 8.12 which includes a fix for the TR I linked above.
