To all users of NoMachine for Mac
we have released version 6.8.2 which fixes issues that users of Catalina have been experiencing. Please update your NoMachine installations to this version.
More information is available here: https://www.nomachine.com/SU11Q00207
November 18, 2019 at 09:24 #24489rshuckParticipantInstaller doesn’t work. It gets to “Validating packages” and shows “The installation failed.” Catalina 10.15.1.
November 18, 2019 at 17:23 #24506ggarciaParticipantI installed the NoMachine 6.8.2 for Mac. After trying to connect with a NoMachine client the message was that no session was available. I rebooted the Mac and now when I connect to NoMachine, I am getting a black screen with a small cursor. I cannot type any keys to login or look at the screen.
The NoMachine 6.8.1 patch worked fine for me.
Thanks,
November 18, 2019 at 17:40 #24510BritgirlKeymaster@rshuck, we need the logs from you from the Mac on which you had the installation issues. Please check this article and submit directly to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com. https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00697
November 18, 2019 at 17:41 #24511BritgirlKeymaster@ggarcia, can you try uninstalling NoMachine and reinstalling the latest update from scratch?
November 19, 2019 at 16:53 #24522ggarciaParticipantI uninstalled NoMachine and then installed version 6.8.2 and I connect now to the server.
Thanks,
November 20, 2019 at 12:56 #24532hawkParticipant@rshuck unfortunately we will need some additional information. Those should tell us where the real problem is. Please collect
/Library/Application\ Support/NoMachine/var/log/nxinstall.log
and/Library/Application\ Support/NoMachine/var/log/nxupdate.log
(if it exist) files and send those to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com, please.November 21, 2019 at 13:04 #24538hawkParticipant@rshuck Please check md5 sum of your downloaded nomachine package. You can do this by command
md5 <location of your package>
from your terminal (for example:md5 ~/Downloads/nomachine_6.8.2_1.dmg
) and compare it to md5 sum from our site (f5804414e2fe7b820437c90edc4012ff).Please check also if package is not blocked because of downloading it from internet. You can do this in “System Preferences -> Security and Privacy -> General” by allowing NoMachine.pkg to open and try to install it again.
November 22, 2019 at 09:02 #24541rshuckParticipantNo change. The hash matches, and it doesn’t even pop up because I’ve already allowed it to run. I don’t know why it’s not updating the nxinstall.log and nxupdate.log. For stubborn programs I’ve run it via sudo at the command line, but I don’t know how to do that with a .pkg installer.
November 26, 2019 at 16:10 #24591hawkParticipant@rshuck We’ve prepared a package with debug. Package will be passed to you by a private message. Please update your existing NoMachine installation, collect file
/Library/Application\ Support/NoMachine/var/log/nomachine_preinstall_logs.log
and send those to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com, please.Additionally we have a method to install NoMachine package directly from the command line. You can find instructions in article.
November 27, 2019 at 09:10 #24601rshuckParticipantNeither the GUI method or CLI method worked. GUI failed with the same error, and CLI reported the below. No ‘nomachine_preinstall_logs.log’ file was generated from either method. Seems obvious to me that it’s a write problem, but I get no prompts (aside from Terminal asking to run from Desktop this time) that indicate why it’s failing.
blubber:Desktop rshuck$ sudo installer -pkg NoMachine.pkg -target /
Password:
2019-11-26 23:48:28.686 defaults[53707:19955233]
The domain/default pair of (.GlobalPreferences, AppleLanguages) does not exist
installer: Package name is NoMachine
installer: Installing at base path /
installer: The install failed. (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. The operation couldn’t be completed. No such file or directory)
blubber:Desktop rshuck$December 5, 2019 at 17:35 #24701January 14, 2020 at 16:35 #25232hawkParticipant@rshuck Can you try new version 6.9.2 available on http://www.nomachine.com?
If this will not help we will prepare another package with debug for you. -
