My remote machine has a 49″ TV for a monitor. The desktop is hard to read because the resolution is so high. I think I’ve tried every combination of settings for windowing and resolution. How do I lower the DPI on the remote machine?

When you say remote machine, are you referring to the server side?

Can you show us a screenshot of what you are seeing?

What options in Display are enabled/disabled? (Ctrl-Alt-0 -> Display)

    Yes, remote = server.

Attached is a screenshot of the remote desktop being hard to read.

This view results from Scale to Window and default settings (attached). But as I said, I have tried a lot of different Display Settings.

    Thanks for the response.

Have you tried reducing the resolution, via Mint’s own system settings?

In System Settings, Accessibility, Desktop Zoom, click Enable zoom. Then you can increase or decrease screen with (Ctrl and +) or (Ctrl and -). If you want to be able to do this within the session, enable grab mouse and keyboard in the Player settings.

    That works.

The resolution is fine on a 49″ TV viewed from 3′ (my zoom room setup), but it’s also fine with a 125% zoom. Then I read the text in a NoMachine session, which I do a lot.

I tried adjusting the native display zoom through a NoMachine session and NoMachine got confused; the display was messed up and slow to refresh. Even quitting the session and trying again didn’t help. But changing the zoom natively and then opening NoMachine worked fine.

    Thanks.

Actually, no. NoMachine became completely unstable when the remote machine display was set to zoom 125%, locking up and even crashing the remote computer.

For your issue, we’d like to see the stack from the server and also NoMachine logs as well.

On the server side, please see: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT07S00244#1.1

And then the journalctl from the server side as well.
