Screen sharing locked

I have the free edition installed on my home iMac desktop and on my laptop. The version is the same on both machines – 7.9.2 and the Machine addresses on both computers is set-up correctly.

I cannot connect my desktop from my laptop or vice versa.

The session negotiation failed  Error: Cannot connect to desktop screen sharing disabled

What can I do to log onto my computers? Your help is appreciated
