I am using the latest version of the NX windows client to connect to Linux servers. I’ve tried with various server combinations. I have a v3.5 server (free) at home and a v4.2x (Workstation-evaluation) server on my work server/workstation. When I can connect to either server without problems, but the keyboard and mouse input always only goes to the one where the connection was first initiated. Multiple virtual desktops both connecting to the v4.2 server produce the same result. In both cases I’m using the floating window custom connection (gnome-terminal).

Hi Jcar, there is a TR open on this now https://www.nomachine.com/TR07L04490

The forums are only for users of version 4 😉 so I cannot comment on 3.5.0 as these forums are dedicated totally to version 4. The traditional support channels (Contact Us in the footer of the website for NX Free Edition users) can probably provide further guidance.

Just to add some more details…

The Windows client is 4.2.26_7. Theserver at work is running 4.2.26_7 workstation-evaluation. Both servers are running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the client is running windows 8.1. The displays are virtual.

    Ok, thanks.

It seems to be a client side problem anyway, so no need to comment on the v3 server =)

I’m evaluating switching over to v4 from v3 for our servers. Many of us regularly simultaneously connect to multiple servers. In our use case at least, this is more than a minor issue.

NX use is expanding in our research group though, so we need more than the 2 users per server that the free version of v3 allows and it isn’t possible to buy the paid v3 any longer.

I advise the Workstation. This allows 4 virtual Linux desktops https://www.nomachine.com/terminal-server
