I am running Fedora 32 (With Cinnamon desktop), headless (no monitor attached)

If I run the setting, I do not experience the problem
    DefaultDesktopCommand “/bin/dbus-launch –exit-with-session gnome-session –session=gnome”

    If I run with cinnamon
    DefaultDesktopCommand “/bin/dbus-launch –exit-with-session cinnamon-session”

I will get software rendering and the remote session will run very slow and eventually crash.

How can I get help finding the solution if there is one.

    What logs can I provide?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

use of software rendering has to be expected on a headless system, but we can’t reproduce any crash in our labs. We would need server side logs to investigate further (see https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00697). You can send them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.

    Collection logs:

Note, software rendering does not happen in Gnome (only Cinnamon)

    Another note.

In order to get either Gnome or Cinnamon to work I have to turn off gdm. not sure if this helps.

    systemctl stop gdm.service
    /etc/NX/nxserver –restart

    Then I can login.

    Hi,

In order to get either Gnome or Cinnamon to work I have to turn off gdm.

this means that the problem Cinnamon is having is related to the drivers (and graphics card) when running headless and excludes a NoMachine issue. When turning off gdm, NoMachine creates it own virtual display and Cinnamon is run into it, so that it doesn’t depend on the actual graphics card anymore. You may check for alternative drivers or keep gdm disabled or try to plug a dummy HDMI adapter into the server.
