ParticipantRecently I’ve had issues to connect from my home desktop to the NoMachine server running on my work computer, even though the credentials were correct I could not connect in any way.
When I check the server I couldn’t stop or restart it as every time I tried to do so and used my credentials (I am the administrator of my own machine, with sudo privileges) it returns the error “Authentication failed, please try again“. I’ve reinstalled the service and still have the same issues…
I’m running a fresh install of NoMachine 8.2.3.4 on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

ParticipantWe do have a Trouble Report related to authentication with sudo which is not possible when requested for installing automatic updates from NoMachine repositories:
https://kb.nomachine.com/TR10T10629,
When running software updates, some GUIs run as root and on Wayland this is not allowed. This doesn’t seem to be your case though.
In your case, you appear to have two issues: 1) you can’t login to the server from remote, and 2) you can’t login locally as admin to server settings. Do you see the admin credentials dialog when you are trying to unlock the server settings locally.

ParticipantHi!
For 1) I need to test again because I added my user to the list using the following command:
sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver --useradd <enter_here_new_username>
And I don’t know yet if it works or not…
And I do see the dialog asking me for the admin credentials when trying to stop, restart or unlock anything (changes appear to be disabled)

ParticipantDid you test again and get the same result? We reproduced similar behaviour with LXDE, LXQT moonlight theme. What DE and theme are you using?
(changes appear to be disabled)
When changes are listed as disabled, you should click on that link and enter password to enable them.

ParticipantHello, I’m getting the same issue for Manjaro/Archlinux too.
This command down here also gives me a parse error near ‘\n’
sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver --useradd
I’m having trouble unlocking or changing the settings if at all. Please help.

ParticipantI’m not sure what you mean. Perhaps you could describe the steps you are taking?
Anyway, we reproduced the error reported by the author of this topic and you cant track it here:
