    Hi,

I’m evaluating NoMachine vs [removed]- connecting to remote xubuntu (xfce) machines and using it for coding.

The image quality that I see in NoMachine isn’t as good as [removed]’s (see image below) – the code doesn’t look as crisp. I am on the highest quality setting in the slide bar, HW encoding and decoding disabled (I can see ‘SW’ in the connection status screen).

Is there any way I can further push NoMachine’s image quality? What am I missing?

Server: Xubuntu 24.04. NoMachine server version: 8.16.1., 1920×1080, X11 vector graphics. Screenshot taken on client in full screen 1920×1080.

    Hi mickeyil,

you mention X11 vector graphics, so do you confirm you have got one of the products in the NoMachine Terminal Server family and you are running a virtual desktop?

In that case, you may want to use a lossless compression method (like png) for image encoding. See more about the ProxyExtraOptions key:

Yes, it’s a terminal server installation.

Setting ProxyExtraOptions to the png option did the trick and now the code displays nice without the artifacts.

    Thanks!
