I am in the process or rolling out the Windows NX client to my company and eventually customers . I have noticed that after installing the Enterprise Client software version 5.2.11_1, i have a process running titled “nxservice64.exe”. What is this and is there a way not to have this running all the time? I am sure many people will not be happy yet another process is running on their PC.

    Thanks

nxservice is not essential, its responsible for forwarding devices like usb, printers, disks and so on, you can set it to launch manually by going to Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services and on the list look for NoMachine Device Server. Do the following:

    – Right click on it
    – Properties
    – Startup Type
    – Click the dropdown menu and change it to ‘Manually’ or choose ‘Disable’
    – Click apply and then ok

    Restart the system.

Thanks for the explanation. Is there any plan to let the user at installation decide if they want it running as a service?

I thought I had updated this topic. Sorry for the delay. Right now it’s not possible to install the client without services. We are evaluating whether it can be possible to allow users to do that.
