Just loaded 4.2.25 on two RHEL 6.5 boxes.  Problem still here.

Sorry for the delay – I expected email notification of updates to thread.

I have the freebie version so I’m connecting to the physical display.

On the desktop of the 4.1 server I’m running Gnome on RHEL 6.5.

I use System/Preferences/Keyboard/Layouts/Layout Options/Contorl Key Position/Swap Ctrl and Caps Lock.

Done on both server and client (my laptop at home running Ubuntu 12.4/Gnome.

Remember: the “Caps Lock” key does function as Ctrl, but on each press it toggles caps lock.  Really annoying.

    Two updates:

    – Connecting 4.x (x likely 1) client to a 3.5 server (fullscreen via Ctrl-Alt-f) behaves nicely.  Caps and Ctrl properly flipped.

    – I’ve learned how to peel back the corner and enable fullscreen but this does not help with a connection to 4.2 server, same client as above.

    Surprised it’s a server thing!

    Please, please, pretty please

Close this. RESOLVED. I didn’t realize that NX was now connecting to the root window. So my old habit of connecting to self at server then reconnecting from home is no longer necessary. Yippeeee.

So it’s now impossible to do what I used to do, but that’s probably a good thing.

Thanks. (I did need the new build for what ever reason..)

    Cheers,

    OK. That was exciting

I learned I was using “Oracle Linux” along the way, and just how precarious python setup scripts can be. But I can login. The problem now is that I get an infinite cascade of nx session windows (just one session). Keep in mind I’m connecting a client to a server on one physical machine.

Do we want a new ticket? What can I supply? Even a screen shot might be tricky…

Roger that. Will update local installation and report back. Thanks.

Thanks for the update. If there are any other pertinent details I’ve neglected, please let me know. Otherwise, standing by.

I should note that NIS (aka yp) is in play and answers login call for my machine. Home directory is on local physical disk
