In 2017 a trouble report  (TR02L04268) was submitted about NX not supporting macOS’s native full screen mode, which results in the macOS menu bar covering the NX desktop. The trouble report is no longer available, but at that time we were assured the problem was known and a solution was in the works. In March 2021, This was asked about again, and @Carin confirmed that this was a known issue and that it was a “high priority feature request” that will be “fixed in the near future”. In April 2023, the question was asked (https://forum.nomachine.com/topic/menubar-covers-remote-desktop-in-fullscreen-mode) and @Britgirl replied that “Supporting native macOS full screen mode is planned [but] we have had other development priorities recently”. “We [are] working on making it available as soon as we can, in line with our other development commitments”.

It is now August 2025. A fix has been promised for about 8 years. We’ve advanced from NoMachine 5.2 to NoMachine 9.1. I check every update to see if the issue has been resolved. Are the NX developers still working on incorporating support for native macOS full screen mode?

Hi wintermute, you are completely right that time has passed. It is still of course in our plans and we have good news! Now that NoMachine Network (in NM9.0) has been released, we’ve been able to step up with development and concentrate efforts on finalizing NoMachine’s integration with Mission Control preferences. Then there is the testing phase. If all that goes well, it’s probable that it will be in one of the near 9.x minor updates.
