sona1111ParticipantHello everyone. I have been at this a while but I will try to give the details the best I can. Pretty much I have an ubuntu 14.04 server running in AWS.
[snip – removed tutorial]
I am trying to log in currently. Wit the new client available to download from you, I can not log in at all. I get an issue connecting to port 4000 (error is 5) which does not try to connect for more then a split second before it gives the error.
My boss has an older version of the client which he claims is the only one which works for us. This logs in but then he is presented with a black screen only for the desktop.
Any idea what other desktop package or client I should be trying to fix this? ( I have also used remmina but I can not connect at all with it, including with the NX package)
Thanks

BritgirlKeymasterHi, I removed your link because it points to a tutorial about the old version 3.5.0, and these forums are dedicated to version 4 client to version 4 server. The tutorial will only confuse users. For headless Linux servers, your best bet is to look at our own article:

There have also been similar enquiries about NoMachine running on EC2 which you can consult here if you like, among them:

sona1111ParticipantI appreciate the very helpful links, however this has still not helped with the issue.
I have:
-opened port 4000 (security group)
-installed the desktop enviros
-installed nx by copying over the folder and using dpkg as described here: https://www.nomachine.com/DT09K00056&documentName=
-followed these instructions kindly provided by you: https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00710
at this point I did get a few errors which I am not sure are critical :
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi/:unscaled, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi/:unscaled, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi, removing from list!at the nx client, configured to password auth, NX, port 4000, I still get :
Could not connect to the server.
Error is 5: Input/output error
As before this seems strange because it does not ‘try’, the error comes immediately: it does not seemingly take the time to get to the network at all. Possibly I am wrong but this seems to be how it is.
Also I can verify port 4000 is open:
telnet <ip_address> 4000
I have also verified that the service is started on the server, and I have rebooted the server and re run the commands in the article above, just to be sure, still same issue.
If you have any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

BritgirlKeymasterWe will need logs in order to see what’s happening. Please follow the guidelines in the article here and submit to issues[at]nomachine[dot]com
