pjrParticipantHi. I’m new to NoMachine – I’m experimenting with it as a replacement to [removed], which I’ve used for many years. Mostly it’s been impressive, but I have a strange problem with a couple of functions not working.
I have an ubuntu 24.04 LTS VM running on TrueNAS with nomachine 9.3.7 installed. It’s using wayland and Gnome. All are up to date with patches.
From a mac (m2, latest OS), I’m using nomachine 9.3.7 to connect and control.
Connection works well. On the desktop, !M icon does appear. The menu underneath it does appear (image attached), but a couple of the functions don’t work.
- Transfer a file -> upload and download do nothing. (note that I can drag/drop a file TO the server. But I understand that in Wayland, drag/drop from the server does not work.
- Show main window works.
- Show server status works
- Show transfer status works
- Show whiteboard works
- Show recording bar works
- Open menu panel does not work.
The file transfer from the server is what I really want to get going.
Also, copy and paste integration doesn’t seem to work either.
Can anyone suggest what I might be missing here?
Many thanks.
Paul.

BritgirlKeymasterHi, there is known issue on Wayland. You could try disabling Wayland and using Xorg instead to verify if it’s the same problem. Does the problem go away? Here is the link to the Trouble Report: https://kb.nomachine.com/TR08T10575.

pjrParticipantAha. I knew Wayland impeded drag/drop, but not the !M menu too. I missed that.
Thanks for the hint – the problem did indeed go away. -
