When I connect to a NoMachine server running on a Mac, I am not able to use important key combinations such as Apple + Space, which under Mac is used to trigger Spotlight. The same problem holds for the combination Apple+Tab, which is used to switch among programs.
These are severe limitations which hinder the usage of keyboard for many tasks, especially if one uses in his/her workflow programs like LaunchBar or Alfred to execute tasks.
I have been experiencing the same problem since about two years. I am running the latest version of NoMachine 6.7.6 for Mac both on the server and on the client machine. I have not tested this issue while running with the client under Windows. Both clients and server computers have Mojave 10.14.6 installed.
Note that I have already configured the NoMachine client under the Input panel to “grad the keyboard input”. When I do so, I typically experience that the above-mentioned key combinations work for, let us say, 3 minutes and then stop working. The only way to restore their functionality is to close NoMachine and restart it. Needless to say that this is not a viable solution if I have to restart the client NoMachine every three minutes.
I am much looking forward for any tip that could solve this problem.

Could you open the Keyboard Viewer on the server and verify if the Fn key is reported as pressed when the problem occurs? In order to open the Keyboard Viewer you should open Keyboard settings and check the boxes “Show Input menu in menu bar” and “Show keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar”, then use the Input menu in the menu bar.July 25, 2019 at 16:17 #23060alberti82ParticipantThank you very much for the very quick answer. This is something I had already checked some time ago. You can find at this link an animated gif showing that the server side indeed receives the key strokes Cmd+Space, but Spotlight does not get triggered. As you can see from the short clip, I have tried to press the Cmd+Space combination at different “speeds”, either holding it for a second or pressing it quickly, but to no avail.

Would you like to test a package implementing the fix for that issue? If you agree, we’ll contact you by e-mail.

Thank you for your prompt assistance! Yes, I am willing to do everything is possible to fix this issue. I have been enjoying using NoMachine Small Server on a Linux computer for quite some time, and I would love to be able to do the same with my Mac computers.

I would like to confirm you that the version of NoMachine for Mac OS X server has completely solved my problem!! It is so great. You might want to make this fix available to everybody in the next update.
Best, Andrea
