Authentication failed – Cannot Get SID

Just installed NoMachine5 (free) on two Windows hosts. Server is Win7, client is Win10. When I try to connect to the server I get an authentication failure. Server logs show:

Cannot get user sid for <username>
Error is: 2, ‘No such file or directory’
NXLogin: Cannot retrieve SID for login: <username>

And that just repeats several times on each connection attempt. Neither machine is joined to a domain. Yes, I rebooted after install. This seems really basic but I’m having zero luck with google on the error message. Any ideas?

This looks similar to a problem that we recently investigated. Can you send us the complete set of logs and send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com?
