Auto-accept on remote machine?

New user here, controlling a Windows 10 laptop from a Macbook Pro running Monterey.

As I will be using this in my personal music studio, I would like to be able to accept connections on the remote machine automatically, as it is not infrequent that I have to restart sessions, and having to put down my instrument and go into the other room takes time.

I hope this is possible!  I am using a Guest connection … perhaps that is the wrong way to approach?

Hi, guest connections (with Guest Desktop Sharing) are for attended computer scenarios. I.e., someone needs to be in front of the remote computer to accept the guest. Guests connect only with the explicit approval of the user who is working on the desktop you want to connect to.

Is it just you connecting to the remote Windows laptop? You can use your Windows system credentials (username and password) to log in to it. As the “desktop owner” you can always connect.

Or are you allowing other users to connect to your laptop? If you want to let others connect and you don’t wish to share your account details, you should create accounts for them on the Windows host (these are called system users). Then, you can set in Server settings -> Security ->Don’t require acceptance if the user logged in as a system user. By default system users must be explicitly accepted by you. Ticking the box means other users (system account users, not guests) won’t need your authorisation.

Hi, thanks!  Sorry for the delay .. busy yesterday.  Got my auto-connect wish …. the hardest part was finding my password .. there isn’t one!

So that worked great … then I accidentally went into full screen and could not get back to my Mac, or un-full screen .. another interesting challenge for another time. (I force quit to escape that)

You misunderstood.  I was indicating that it worked .. my system credentials have no password, so I simply entered a blank.

I was just drawing a blank as I could not find my password, then remembered that I set it up with NO password, as I hate passwords, especially on a personal system.

Glad NoMachine accepted the -null- password.
