    Hi

I am currently using the free version of NoMachine (version  6.9.2) to establish a remote deskptop connection to a Ubuntu 16.04 machine. I have noticed slight lags when it comes to using the terminal desktop especially when trying to recall a previously typed command. Is there any settings under the system performance tab I should change to reduce the input lag in the connection. My internet speeds are 50Mbps download and 10Mbps upload with a ping of around 10ms to the remote desktop.

    Thanks

    Nadun

    Hi,

you may try these options in the session menu panel (https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00156&dn=menu%20panel#5.7):

    – choose to ‘Request a specific frame rate’ and select 60 fps

    – click to ‘Disable frame buffering on decoding’

I have been using NM for a long time.  Free Connection using SSH tunnel.  The speed of the connection and responsiveness vary a great deal.

I recommend using the ssh tunnel to establish a connection.  Then connect NoMachine. If you want help with that see the instructions or PM me or just reply here.

It turns out that leaving your machine on for 30+ days without a restart greatly affects the performance of the NoMachine server, so restarting the desktop (which I am establishing a remote connection to) fixed the lag and it feels very responsive.
