tashinParticipantHi,
I’m having a bit of strange screen problem on Linux client. My set up is below:
The server is running NoMachine Workstation edition, 8.16.1. So a web based client connection is also possible and does work in any situation. The NX client is free version but also 8.16.1 on all the platforms.
[server] Pop! OS 22.04 with AMDGPU <== [nxclient] Pop! OS 22.04 with AMDGPU(RX6700X) [Blacky screen]
[server] Pop! OS 22.04 with AMDGPU <== [webclient] Pop! OS 22.04 with AMDGPU(RX6700X): same machine as above [No problem]
[server] Pop! OS 22.04 with AMDGPU <== [nxclient] MacOS (MBP14 M4) [No problem]
[server] Pop! OS 22.04 with AMDGPU <== [nxclient] Windows, AMDGPU(RX7900XT) [No problem]
To be more precise, it only happens when connecting the server via NX client from a Linux machine with AMDGPU set up. I have not tried with NVIDIA or Intel GPU Linux client. But all the other situations does not have this black…ey screen problem.
The actual problem is that the screen actually shows up in very short moment and goes to black. If I move mouse around, the cursor is VISIBLE! and once the cursor hovers around something that reacts, i.e. Gnome’s Workspace button at the top left, that small part of screen shows up then goes to black again.
Would it be due to AMDGPU driver problem at Linux? If then, can I ask about what kind of libraries I need to re-install?

BilbotineParticipantHi tashin,
It looks like you have artifacts on the session, but only on linux. Please try to disable the hardware decoding in the session: Menu>Display settings>Modify>”Disable client side hardware decoding”
Let us know if it solves the issue or not!

tashinParticipantOh boy, that worked out!
I’ve changed the setting and re-launched the client side NoMachine. And the screen shows correctly!!
Also, yet another update: Linux client from other computer, Pop! OS 22.04 with AMD Integrated GPU+NVIDIA GPU (a laptop) works without problem, not even disabling the client side hardware acceleration.
Anyway, thanks for input!
