I have been using NoMachine for a long time at NERSC.  Recently, seemed to have messed up my configuration, or something. I honestly don’t remember anymore exactly what happened.  Anyway, I have installed NoMachine, downloaded the configuration file from NERSC, deleted the .nx directory, and even tried deleting some files in ~/Library/Preferences, but have not been able to get back to the (default) way that it was. Unfortunately, I do not backup my applications and so can not go back to my old version of NoMachine. I have gone back to old version of the NX5 Configuration .nxs file.

The problem is that I get blank window, whereas I used to have a bar that bottom of the window with (4) virtual desktops and my minimized xterms, etc.  Now when I minimize a xterm I can not get it back. If I move an xterm to another desktop it is also gone forever. This bar also had a launcher that would open an xterm of some of the machines at NERSC, like Edison, Cori, etc.  I can right click and get an xterm and then ssh to the NERSC machines, so I am alive, but I would like to get back to where I was before.

Is this NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley? If so, it might be a good idea to check with them first because in order to help you we’ll need the server side logs, not just client-side logs. On the other hand, if you are also the administrator of the server, send them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.

Instructions on how to enable and extract them are here: https://www.nomachine.com/DT07M00098
