Can not login remotely to Ubuntu VM “Connection reset by peer”

Hello,

Trying to login to a Ubuntu 20.04 VM remotely using NoMachine 7.6.2 and it seems to initially connect and then closes and says Connection reset by Peer.

Something that might be part of the problem, it is able to connect if the VM is already logged into a user account when the connection is attempted but if its at the account selection screen then the Connection Reset message occurs instead.

We reproduced an identical behavior in our labs using Wayland. If you are connecting to a Wayland-based desktop running in a Linux virtual machine, you can try the solution described in the following article:
