Hi,
I was considering NoMachine to admin a remote linux desktop machine from my local linux box (both running Opensuse). Would the host/server machine be able to see on their screen all that I’m doing during the NoMachine session in realtime? That would be essential for my project.
Many thanks 🙂

If you don’t want to connect to the physical desktop, you could consider using Workstation which will run a virtual desktop ‘behind’ the physical desktop of the remote host. Where you have a Workstation installed, it is possible to share any of the virtual desktops running.
See the following articles for more details: https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00702 and https://www.nomachine.com/AR10K00700
Our next release, NoMachine 5, which is going to be released very soon, will offer screen blanking. This is useful for unattended machines or when administrators don’t wish to show the operations being performed on the screen. It’s a setting which is configurable by the owner of the desktop: https://www.nomachine.com/FR09I02610

I wish so and I’m not sure what this “virtual desktop behind the physical desktop” means. I would essentially do maintenance and assistance and I’d like them to see exactly what I’m doing for training purposes. I may try the evaluation version of the workstation: please how long does the evaluation period will last? I may consider waiting before buying, I wouldn’t like to pay for it and then have the new version just released.
Regarding SSH: if the free version doesn’t offer it, would it be pretty unsecure to use it? any other security mechanism included in the free version?
Many thanks for kind support
September 21, 2015 at 12:13 #8295BritgirlKeymasterSorry for not being clear. I have just edited my post to clarify what you can do. There was some confusion between your two posts (which were asking the same question, but worded differently).
The Workstation evaluation is for 30 days. Please try the free product and see if this satisfies your requirements for desktop sharing.
If you were to decide to opt for the Workstation, any updates we release (including majors) are available as part of your annual subscription.
