Dear all,
I have a computer (A) running OSX 10.11.2, and a computer (B) running Xubuntu. I followed the instructions here and installed NoMachine on A and B .
I want to connect from A to B. I go on A, start NoMachine, then ‘Click here to create a new connection’, select protocol NX, enter the IP address that I read on NoMachine on B, and select port 4000. Then I chose the ‘Password’ authentication method, and ‘Don’t use a Proxy’.
When I select the connection that I just created and click ‘Connect’, I get the error message ‘A connection timeout has occurred while trying to connect to ‘10.40.11.10’ on port ‘4000’. The issue could either be caused by a networking problem, by a firewall or NAT blocking incoming traffic or by a wrong server address. Please verify your configuration and try again.’.
May you please help me with this?

Are both machines in one network? If yes check if IP is correct and hasn’t changed. If machines aren’t in the same network, please follow “Using NoMachine for remote access to a computer over the internet” section in the mentioned guide.
No, they are not on the same network. I tried to follow the instructions in ‘Using NoMachine for remote access to a computer over the internet’, and it still does not work.
As a follow-up to my original post, I managed to connect if I unplug the ethernet connection from A and B, and let both A and B use the WIFI connection from my mobile phone, by using the phone as a tethering hotstpot. I suspect that there is some firewall or some settings relative to the ethernet connection which prevent NoMachine from working.
Does this give any hint or where the problem may be?
