Cannot connect to server

Hi!
I’m trying to connect to my server (which I think I have running correctly), but always get the notice that the connection times out and server could not be found.
Any ideas?

Can you tell us the exact message that you see?

Also, are you connecting from NoMachine 4 on Windows to Machine 4 on Windows?

This is a Windows to Windows connection.
The error message is the following:
Error is 138: Connection timed out.

this is very likely a firewall problem. Try disabling the firewall or the antivirus program on the server computer. If it is that, we will later see how to selectively enable the ports that are used by NoMachine.

Please also tell me the exact Windows version you are running, the antivirus program or any detail that can be useful. We’ll investigate what we need to do to set up the ports automatically in this particular configuration.

Hi!

I turned off both firewalls, but still could not connect. Same error message.

Server Computer is Windows 7 Professional, Version 6.1

Remote computer is Windows 7 Home Version, Version 6.1

No Antivirus programs are installed.

Also, the server can’t find a Gateway IP address. The message explaining that that is not necessarily a problem is a little confusing to me.

And when I try to enable SSH or NX ports, it says it fails to map these ports.

Isabel,

From the error you are getting, a possible explanation is that you are using the wrong IP address to connect from the first computer to the second.  Please do the following for verifying that.

1. On the first computer, run a cmd console (click the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the Search box, type cmd, and then, in the list of results, double-click on the cmd application).

2. In the cmd console run the following command:

> ipconfig

3.  Do the same on the second computer.

4.  Copy&paste the output you get on the first and second computer and send us via mail at: forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.  For privacy, it’s better you don’t post the IP addresses in a public forum
