This one is nearly the same as https://forum.nomachine.com/topic/connection-timeout-when-server-screensaver-is-on
I’m having troubles making a connection to a Mac when the Mac’s screen saver is engaged. At the moment, I’m running NoMachine 8.9.1 both as a Mac server and a Windows client. My client is running on Windows 10, and the server is currently MacOS 14.1.1, although I’ve seen this issue since my original install on a version of MacOS 13.6 several weeks ago.
Remote connection to the Mac works fine if the screen saver isn’t engaged, and there are no problems if the screen saver engages after a NoMachine connection has been established. However, for a new session, if the screen saver is running, an attempt to make a new connection times out. If I go to the computer and disengage the screen saver, then I can make a new connection. And as long as the connection has been made, it’s not a problem if connectivity gets interrupted (e.g., dropped Internet connection from the Windows client).
A question prompted by the other case: I don’t consider this to be a headless machine. This is a Mac Mini that I do have connected to a physical KVM switch. But if the screen saver is engaged, the connections time out until I authenticate myself and have a fully active desktop.
