I’ve had NoMachine up and running for a while now with no issues.  My Windows client machine rebooted during the night and I tried to reconnect to the server this morning and it can’t connect.  My client machine is Windows 10 and my server is CentOS 8 and is headless.  Saved my log and I  see this error…

    17100 16980 08:44:10 508.018 ClientDaemonConnector: Starting a new connection to host ‘192.168.254.17’ on port ‘4000’.
    17100 16980 08:44:10 509.016 Connection: Started connection at 0x0468bbe0.
    17100 16980 08:44:10 514.016 ClientSession: Started session at 0x033ced98.
    17100 16980 08:44:40 509.534 Connection: Connection at 0x0468bbe0 failed.
17100 16980 08:44:40 509.534 ClientSession: Runnable at 0x0468bbe0 caused the session at 0x033ced98 to fail.
17100 16980 08:44:40 509.534 ClientSession: Failing reason is ‘A connection timeout has occurred while trying to connect to ‘192.168.254.17’ on port ‘4000’. The issue could either be caused by a networking problem, by a firewall or NAT blocking incoming traffic or by a wrong server address. Please verify your configuration and try again.’.

Now my question is since I don’t have a monitor on it I don’t want to have to restart the server,  can I just try to restart the NoMachine “service” via SSH?  If I try that how do I restart a service via command line..  (Still learning my way around Linux). If I restart the server and I have NoMachine start upon startup will I be able to connect to NoMachine from a  fresh restart?

Hope the questions are clear enough…

Thanks in advance for any help…  much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    -Jason

    Hello,

Can you verify if the IP of the CentOS server is reachable from your Windows client.

If yes, ssh to the server and check status of the NoMachine server using sudo /etc/NX/nxserver --status.
If server is disabled you can restart it by using command sudo /etc/NX/nxserver --restart

    Yup I could ping it.

The restart of the service did it.

Thank you for the help it’s working just like it should.
