Hello
I have installed NX on CentOS7 with Gnome, and I only get 800×600 resolution, I would expect to get 1920x1080px. Following are the relevant data:
Server: NoMachine 6.0.78 Linux, Gnome 3.22.2
Client: Windows NoMachine Client V5.3.9
If I try to change any resolution settings in the client, it doesn’t have any impact. I also cannot change the resolution on CENTOS7 Gui.This is the xrandr output
Screen 0: minimum 1 x 1, current 800 x 600, maximum 8192 x 8192
Virtual1 connected primary 800×600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
800×600 60.00*+ 60.32
1360×768 60.02
1280×800 59.81
1152×864 75.00
1280×768 59.87
1024×768 60.00
640×480 59.94
Virtual2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
Virtual3 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
Virtual4 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
Virtual5 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
Virtual6 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
Virtual7 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)DEBUG Logs are sent to forum (at) nomachine (dot) com. Is there anything else I can check? Thanks a lot.
Sidenotes:
- I’m running on enterprise servers, so I will buy a single licence, if everything is up and running well.
- I’m running VNC in parallel, I get the full 1920x1080px resolution there, so it must be an NX issue in my opinion.

Resizing the screen of the remote machine failed. The reason could be traced in the Xorg server log.
Could you send the content of files /var/log/Xorg*.log ?March 27, 2018 at 10:52 #18051graywolfParticipantCould you check that xrandr is able to resize the screen as expected? Try xrandr -s 1280×800, for example.
I can see that 1920×1080 is not in the list produced by xrandr. Is that test with VNC from a different host?

Here is the the output of my Xorg.0.log file (at the time of the capture, not the nx session is the only active session on this host)

I cannot change the resolution with xrandr manually: “Failed to change the screen configuration”.

I do the the full 1920×1080 resolution, when I connect from the same windows host to VNC on my CentOS7, sorry for confusion. Thanks for your help.
March 30, 2018 at 14:23 #18073fra81ModeratorHi,
when connecting to the physical display, available resolutions are only the ones provided by the graphics card, the same you can see with xrandr. Very likely you are connecting to a virtual session with VNC. NoMachine supports virtual desktop sessions in the NoMachine Workstation product. You can download the evaluation version if you want to check it.

OK, in short you mean I have installed the wrong version?
Currently I have installed: https://www.nomachine.com/de/download/linux&id=1
You propose to install the trial Version of “NoMachine Workstation for Linux”? => https://www.nomachine.com/de/download-enterprise#NoMachine-Workstation
Thanks 🙂
April 3, 2018 at 10:22 #18082BritgirlKeymasterFra81 was suggesting that you try the Workstation because this is the product that offers the virtual Linux desktop functionality (it’s the link that you pasted, from the enterprise Terminal Server range). You have installed the free version which offers remote access to the physical desktop of the remote host you are connecting to.
Try the evaluation and let us know if this solves the issue.

Thanks for the tips. With the Workstation editions, it’s better now:
I can configure the resolution in NoMachine Client, as well as directly in the virtual machine. What still does not work, that the resolution is automatically adjusted, if I adjust the Window size of the NoMachine Client. Should that work?
And in general, the performance is kind of slow, I’m connected over LAN. How can I investigate performance issues?
April 19, 2018 at 11:38 #18187BritgirlKeymasterIt sounds like you need to enable resize the remote screen.
Take a look at the guide in the knowledge base which illustrates and explains how to adjust the display settings.
https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00156&dn=menu#5
The same section also handles quality settings since you mention performance.
If you continue to have problems with either the resolution or performance, send us a screenshot of display settings so we can see what you’ve configured.
