Connect Ubuntu 14.04 from MAC OSX 10.10.4

I set up NoMachine on both my Mac and Ubuntu. I’m not sure what port to use so I am using 4000. The connection times out with no connection made. I am using the free version for both machines. I am using gnome desktop on the UBUNTU 14.04. I want to connect from my Mac to the Linux system.

Can you tell us if you are connecting over LAN or internet ?

I am having the same issue.  However, it is with the just released free nomachine 4.6.12.  I was on an older version that worked fine.
